Qua and Swensk
Saturday, July 25th, 2009Just before Jane and I left Stockholm for Melbourne we came across a Tv-show named Musikbyrån on Swedish public service (SVT). Amazingly enough it was about the Melbourne music scene and we started to watch the show dreaming of the day we would see this in person.
And yesterday I did. Cornel Wilczek stepped into Swensk.
Qua is a person with a big heart and extraordinary personality. That´s the reason why you should go to Workers Club tomorrow. The music is just a bonus. Interesting people never go out of fashion.

Mando Diao
Tuesday, February 17th, 2009According to the band, the name has no particular meaning, and it appeared to band member Björn Dixgård in a dream. The band made their first public performances in the clubs of their hometown Borlänge in 1999. A local writer described them in an article as the best unsigned band he had ever seen. They claim the Beatles as their original source of inspiration.
Elle Loves Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair and Lykke Li
Sunday, January 18th, 2009Elle Magazines (Sweden) just had it’s Fashion Awards. Three people already mentioned by Swensk ended up as winners this year.
Fashion Designer of the Year: Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair. Congratulation Astrid and Lee (and Sandra and Anna) for just beginning in the beginning of greatness.
Best Dressed Woman of the Year: Lykke Li. This is probably the last time I blog about her. After I saw her at the bandroom in Melbourne I realized she is not Swedish. She is way to good.

6. Lykke Li — Youth Novels
Friday, January 2nd, 2009“At first we weren’t sure if we’d like Lykke Li, but then we heard her addictive electro-pop and just surrendered to it. She’s a cute Swedish girl with even sweeter vocals…what’s not to like?”

In case you missed it/Om du missade det
Friday, January 2nd, 2009Hi Melbourne. We have come all the way from Sweden to meet you here today. And let me tell you Sweden is very very fucking far away. It’s all away away. Officially on the other side of planet earth.
